This policy explains what personal information Carved Paws collects when you use this website or place an order, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Who we are
Carved Paws is a small independent workshop making hand-carved leather pet portraits. For any privacy question, or to exercise a right described below, email hello@carvedpaws.com.
Business details: [TODO: legal name, registered address, VAT/tax number if applicable]. These details are required by consumer law in the EU and UK and should be filled in before launch.
What we collect
- Order details — your name, email, delivery address, the options you choose, and any notes you add.
- Photographs you upload — the image of your pet that we use to carve your piece.
- Payment information — handled entirely by PayPal. We never see or store your card number.
- Technical data — if analytics is enabled, basic information about your device, browser, referring page and how you use the site.
Why we use it
- To make and deliver the piece you ordered (performance of a contract).
- To answer your emails and handle any problem with an order (contract or legitimate interest).
- To meet tax, accounting and consumer-protection obligations (legal obligation).
- To improve the site and understand which pages work (consent, where analytics cookies are used).
Who we share it with
- PayPal — to process your payment.
- Delivery partners — the courier or postal service that carries your parcel, and the logistics partner that clears it through customs.
- Hosting and email providers — the services that run this website and deliver our emails.
- Analytics and advertising providers — only where you have consented to cookies, so we can measure which ads lead to real orders.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your photograph with anyone other than the people and services needed to make and deliver your piece.
Your photograph
Your photograph is used only to carve your portrait and to resolve any problem with the order. We keep it while the order is open and for a short period afterwards so we can remake the piece if something goes wrong. We will never publish your photograph or use it in advertising without asking you first. If you would like it deleted sooner, email us and we will do so.
International transfers
We are based outside the EU and UK. When you order from Europe, your data is transferred to us so that we can make your piece. Where required, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses with our service providers.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records are kept for as long as accounting law requires (usually six to ten years, depending on the country). Photographs are kept for up to 12 months after delivery, then deleted unless you ask us sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to certain uses, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@carvedpaws.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies
This site uses essential cookies only by default. If analytics or advertising cookies are enabled, we ask for your consent first and you can withdraw it at any time by clearing cookies or using the consent banner.
Changes
